Best Friends, reunited at last!
After leaving my parents' home, the kids and I spent yet another day in the car traveling. We were off to visit friends in the town we lived in before moving to the South. It was quite a long day in the car, but when we pulled up to Jeramy and Danae's house that Saturday night, the trip was worth it. Toby was reunited with his very best friend (pictured above, left)--all was right in his world again. The two friends hugged and played like they'd never been apart.
When we moved last fall, the hardest part was moving so far away from our family and close friends. Although Toby was only three at the time, his circle of friends was pretty tight--after all, they were all friends from the time they were "buns in the ovens". Four of my friends and I were pregnant with our firstborns at the same time, and we really bonded and became close. We saw each other at least twice a week (at church, and we had a small ladies Bible study together), so our five babies knew each other practically from the time they took their first breaths. (As it turned out, we all had our second babies within a year and a half of each other as well--although Zach didn't have the chance to develop this same bond with his friends before our move.)
We arrived at our old church that Sunday morning, and I breathed a sigh of relief...I was back "home". (The only thing I was missing was my husband!) This was the place of worship Dan and I had been a part of the four and a half years we lived in that town, and we really loved the church, and the people of the church. It was wonderful to attend the worship service that morning, to reconnect with our friends, and to visit with Pastor Ray after the service.
On Monday, Danae invited several friends out to their farm for lunch and a playdate. There were so many kids running around playing, it was hard to keep track of everyone! It was great visiting with so many of my mom friends from up North, and the kids all had a blast! Below are a bunch of pictures from that day:

The boys found a little boat and brought it to the giant water puddle...this area of the country had a lot of rain this spring and early summer!
Toby and M...Best Buds. They had newborn kittens at the farm, and the kids LOVED holding them.
Toby and his friend J..."The Twins". They don't look so much alike anymore, but about a year ago you could hardly tell them apart from the back. They're great buddies, and Toby really misses playing with him!
Zach kept looking down at the kittens and saying, "Oh, Hi!!!!" He was in his element!
M's brother I...he and Zach are about 3 1/2 months apart in age.

After the fun playdate at Danae's house, I packed our belongings and the kids back in the car for yet another ride...this time only an hour, to my brother Matt's house. After living so close to them for several years, Toby and Zach became great pals with their cousins...it was fun to see them playing together again. We also visited my grandparents one morning...unfortunately the kids were not feeling very photogenic and hid from the camera that day. Below are the pictures I took at my grandparents' house, and some pictures I took of the cousins at the park.

After visiting my brother and his family, we made our trek back home. Two very long days in the car, and the kids traveled wonderfully--what troopers! We had such a fun time camping and visiting family and friends in the Upper Midwest. We love and miss you all!
