Saturday night, we ate supper at Proffitt’s Porch—something every visitor to the town should experience. It’s literally “in the sticks” outside of town. You start to wonder if there’s any civilization along the road, then all of a sudden you arrive at the restaurant, which is a house on stilts by a small lake, complete with a sandy beach. This was a favorite place of ours while we lived there—they serve some amazing Red Beans and Rice with Garlic Bread.
There were a lot of hummingbirds flying
around--they were going so fast, I was glad
to actually get a picture of one!
On Sunday, we went to Hope Community Church, where we attended when we lived there. We weren’t sure how many familiar faces we would see there, but we did see several old friends, so it was fun to quickly catch up with them. The guy who we knew as the worship director is now the lead pastor, and it was neat to see him in a different role.
I also was able to see my friend Amber. She lives about an hour away from town, but drove over to see us—I’m so glad she did! She and her beautiful daughter, Addie, came to church with us, and then we went to lunch at Chili’s. We had a great time catching up—it had been nearly four years since we’d seen each other. Toby and Addie made fast friends, too. Toby slept the whole way back to Montgomery, but when he woke up, the first thing he said was, “That was fun to eat with Addie.”
