Toby's Marathon

I am so proud of Toby! At four years old, he has just completed his first marathon--kids marathon, that is. In six weeks' time, he ran a total of 25 miles, finishing the last 1.2 miles at the Superhero Kids' Marathon. My little boy has run 26.2 miles in a month and a half's time! (Can we say proud Mama?!) The most important part is, he had fun doing it! Whether or not he decides to follow in my footsteps and become a runner, he is learning at a very young age that physical fitness is important. I hope he'll continue to stay this active as he grows up!

Dan ran with Toby, who finished 1.2 miles in 15 minutes! Because it's a "Superhero" marathon, his registration packet included a mask.
The Superheros getting ready to start the race--they must have been burning up in those costumes!
Just after crossing the finish line!
Collecting his finisher's medal from Batman.
Posing one last time, with his friend H (and of course, Zach, who has to be involved in whatever Big Brother is doing!).

Toby worked hard, and was very tired after his run. We had a long, slow walk back to the van, followed by a nap in the car on the way home. After arriving back in our town, though, we treated Toby and Zach to some well-earned ice cream. Way to go, Toby! Mom and Dad are so proud of you!
